This is Smee, Toomanytoys
Hi all,
I go by the user name of 'Toomanytoys' but those that know me its either Leigh or 'Viv' (thats another story
)
I've been into bikes since I was first given a go on a friends Yamaha TY80 when I was about 9 yrs old, way back when dens where for hiding from adults and Cliff Richard was trendy.
Since then I was bitten and have owned bikes for a majority of my life.
Here is a list of bikes I have had at sometime or other:
Honda C50 field bike
Yamaha yz125 1980ish model
Suzuki Ak50 ( Ap without pedals
)
Yamaha XS250
suzuki Gs850
Honda CB100
Susuki GSX600f
Suzuki DRZ400e
Suzuki RM250 ( on a Q plate )
Suzuki GSX1400
and my current bike is a Aprilia RXV450
I got into quads by accident (quite literally) after a recent 'Off' on my Aprilia while out on the Lanes to the south of Peterborough with rapty on his CCM. We where riding one of the easiest Lanes in this fine Kingdom when I got the front wheel hooked into a sun baked rut of about 3" deep which caused me to part with the bike and land heavily on my right arm resulting in 2 fractures just below the shoulder
After about 5 weeks of monking about Gilly bought a little chinese 250 quad to commute with and a mess about on. This got the grey matter thinking and after a sit on it and a gentle reach for the Bars I thought hey problem solved,I could do this
The next thing I knew Rapty had ordered himself a shiny new Raptor 700se. I must have one too I thought, but how do persuade the girly with a garage full of bikes and a driveway full of cars and me being the only driver/rider in the house (hence Toomanytoys). Something will have to go
. What will it be? I decided That the GSX1400 would have to go, besides I had spent the last year turning into a awsome looking Streetfighter with mirror polishing and trick bits all over it, which turned into a chore Keeping it clean, often 3 hrs of cleaning after just a quick run to the shops for some milk, so it become more hassle than riding pleasure.
The Gsx went onto a popular web site with a request for sale or exchange for a decent road legal quad. After Many phone calls from Interested parties, offering a selection of quads, I setteled for a '06 raptor 700r with Loads of GYT-R bits on PLG registration. The deal was done and the quad was in my possession.
Only a few weeks have gone, but It already feels a part of the family, having been out just about everyday beit to commute on or to get back out on the lanes.
Now a little of the boring stuff. I am the proud father of 2 girls and a boy ( who live with there mother ), I live with my Partner Sarah who is great and lets me get away with murder, and Im an Aircraft Engineer ( contractor )by trade, I live in Melton Mowbray And love riding the local lanes as well as the peaks. I intend to go a little further afield and try out Wales and the Lakes and maybe some western europe stuff in the future. I entered the Ryedale rally this year and fancy doing 1 or 2 other rally's for fun.
What I would like to get out of this forum based community- to meet up with other Quad and ATV riders who enjoy the lanes for ride-outs both near and far.
If you need a guide for a 40 mile or so run around the Melton area, Taking in the Viking way, Freeby, Burough hill and a few lanes between then get in touch.

TMT has a wealth of route knowledge in that area. If looking for Peterbourough Area, I can assist.
